Meet Dr. Hilliard

Russell R. Hilliard, D.D.S.

I became a dentist to help people, because the dental field is where I feel the most confident in my ability to do good work. Furthermore, I enjoy the challenge of the field, and helping those who are fearful of the dentist to become comfortable in our office. One of my favorite parts of the job is taking a new patient and by providing such high quality service they become a kind of missionary for excellent dental health. I am committed to providing extraordinary personalized care.

Education and Experience

I graduated from Texas Tech University with my undergraduate degree in chemistry and continued on to the dental branch of the University of Texas Health and Science Center in Houston, TX. In 1980, I received my fellowship from the Academy of General Dentistry.

I continue to broaden my knowledge and sharpen my skills through continuing education. I have taken part in numerous postgraduate courses focusing on those that would help me improve smiles through aesthetic dentistry and those about how to treat jaw problems, facial pain, and headaches in relation to your oral health.

With the numerous technological developments and new skill introduced, I have found it worthwhile to take up involvement with numerous professional organizations. I am constantly seeking new information through lectures, reading, and study. It is great when I can apply new developments and findings to improve patient treatments.

My Philosophy

I am an advocate for long-term health in our patients. I believe that improved dental care and patient education are key to this. I'm not into lecturing you with any "you must" instructions, but rather I believe in explaining the "why" answers. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing your expression brighten up as you smile those new teeth our treatment helped you obtain. My warning to all who pass through my doors is to be careful driving home. You don't want to get in a wreck because you take your eyes off your amazing smile in the car mirror.

Outside the Office

A native Houstonian, I have spent my entire life here except for the four years I spent at Texas Tech. My family moved here in 1960 when much of the Westbury area was under construction. My wife and I are actually middle school sweethearts. Though married since 1973, we have been going strong since 1969. We are proud of our only son, now an adult, and are active in many church activities. I even served as a board member of the Central Texas Leadership Training for Christ for many years.
